Justin Fox Burks was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and raised in Memphis, Tennessee where he graduated with a fine arts degree in photography from The University of Memphis. A professional freelance photographer since 1998, he has worked with diverse clients such as GQ, MTV, The American Lung Association, and Rhodes College, plus he shoots regularly for London-based Mojo magazine. Justin’s food photography has appeared in Food & Wine, Garden & Gun, and The London Independent, and he also shoots the photographs for the restaurant critique, Dinning Out, in Memphis Magazine each month.

Justin’s long career as a photographer allowed him access to some of the secrets of the South’s greatest kitchens, where he picked up tips and tricks from many talented chefs like the author of this cookbook, Jennifer Chandler. His wife and partner in the kitchen, Amy Lawrence, also studied the dishes and techniques of restaurant chefs as a food writer and restaurant critic for Memphis Magazine. Recently they decided to share the recipes they were inspired to make in their home kitchen through a book called The Southern Vegetarian Cookbook (Thomas-Nelson Publishing, 2013) and though their blog, The Chubby Vegetarian (www.thechubbyvegetarian.com).

Justin is proud to call Memphis home where he finds a constant source of inspiration from his family, friends, and the characters that inhabit this unique city. You can find his photography portfolio on-line at www.justinfoxburks.com.
